Why not try your try your hand and pit your skills against fellow members?
Although there is an optional pool, matches are free to enter and provide a great opportunity to meet other members and get a sense of how a venue is fishing, not to mention where the hotspots are and the best tactics to get the most from them.
There are numerous trophies to compete for over the season, and points are awarded each match to determine the year’s top matchman. Currently leading with a perfect 20 points from two matches is Vince Davies (see page 5). Close behind is Simon Hibbert on 16 points with Pete Lewis and Colin Rumney joint third on 14.
The first two matches have seen the field of roughly 15 anglers average 2.7lbs each, including blank catches.
There is also a golden peg prize. At the start of each match a peg number is selected at random. If the angler drawn on that peg wins the match he, or she, wins the golden peg money. Running over from last season, the current pot has now been capped at £100 and a second golden peg pot will now be started.
